If you are providing a consulting service for a fee, giving advice or an opinion you should defiantly have Professional Indemnity. You should be able to apply for Public Liability in addition very easily at minimum cost.

Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance

Other insurance to consider if you are a working for yourself is income protection. There are also other types of insurance available under a business pack such as contents, business interruption, theft etc. Usually the business insurance can cover things such as rewriting of records, loss of data and can include public liability all rolled into one neat package

You should be able to get a PI quote in a matter of hours and I would be more than happy to provide one.

Good luck!!

James

Okay you should have the following

Professional Indemnity - Professional Indemnity insurance generally indemnifies the insured for a claim that is first made while the policy is in force as a result of a breach of professional duty in respect of the conduct of the professional business.

Public Liability - Insurance covering liability of the insured for negligent acts resulting in bodily injury, disease, or death of others than employees of the insured, and/or property damage.

You can include liability in a business pack and cover all your contents etc within one policy. Professional Indemnity is separate but if you are receiving a fee for advice or consulting for a fee t is a must.

PI & PL Quote

I would be more than happy to discuss over the phone.

Regards,

James

Hi Mumnesia,
That's really scary and doesn't sound reasonable at all. I hope you've got some good legal advice, and that it all gets sorted out in your favour.

Sending best of luck to you,
Jayne
