Logo self design question

Hope this is the right forum to put this question in.
It refers to graphic design software, namely Illustrator (I think).

I have a logo I have designed myself (no groaning please)

It's simple and straightforward - the business name in a basic serif font enclosed in a curvy frame I have drawn on a piece of paper.

One colour. Black against white backdrop. Nothing fancy.

Is it possible for this to be replicated without too much trouble into a vector based program like Illustrator so I can utilise it?

If so, when making a request to a graphic designer, how would I put this request into words?

(Obviously in terms of cash I'm squeezing the smelly end of an oily rag right now. When I'm cashed up and have made the Forbes List, I'll of course hire someone to do all this for me).

You want a graphic designer to trace your drawing in Illustrator to create a vector file. Pretty much what you said to start with!

Yeah you just need it to be vectorised for you (converted to vector format).

I know this thread is three weeks old but on the off chance that you never got around to getting this sorted .... If you're strapped for cash you may find some luck looking into Illustrator's "Live Trace" feature. It's not ideal but you can get some passable results out of it with proper tweaking - it converts images into a vector format.

Or, if you're interested, drop me a message and I'll trace it for you free of charge. It's not much work at all.

Just be sure to keep the quality of your logo in sync with the quality of your brand as you become better established in your market. May I refer you to a past article on my blog, which may be of help?
