Un-noob yourself then....

There are no exceptions to the rule...

Eliciting your requirements is already painful...what you want to do is, tell us where you are now, followed by where you want to be....

This guy asked me a bunch of questions, including things such as "Do you offshore the development work?". He then asked me to quote him without providing any specifications. Seemed very suspicious to me.

Could be wrong, just my two cents.

Which guy was that? Not all but from my understanding thats what some folk do. I was quoted by 3 people last year about a project i had unrelated to this. Since they were budget minded they mentioned in the first exchange that they do there heavy lifting offshore.

Smart if you ask me. Lowers your overheads. Billion dollar industry

Unless your website is an appliance....(it may well be, who knows)...what you will learn about the web/software development industry is that you need to build your relationship on trust just as much if not more so than on cost factors. It is a partnership.

If you tie yourself up with trying to go for the low price provider you will inevitably get poor results...(note also that going for the most expensive in not a panacea)...

No one wants to go into partnership with one side aiming to give as little as they possibly can...especially not highly intelligent, hard working, passionate people...

You may not agree that it is a partnership...it's not in the legal sense of the word, but it is in spirit...If you don't agree and would like to be convinced let me know

On the offshore thing, well, that relies on having quality control people who know what they are doing residing in Australia first...again...that boils down to trust issues...imo, people obliging budget oriented people do not have quality results in mind.....

geminithink likes this.
