Default Website logo/slogan

Hi all,

I am new to this forum - Hi!

I am in the process of establishing a website to sell my product.

However, I need to put together a slogan or logo for the top of the website. Does anyone know whether there are websites out there that I can put together one myself?

Or did you employ someone to do your website/company logo?

I will be putting together business cards and flyers and will obviously use the same logo/slogan as per the website one.

Thanks for your help in advance.

*Alison*

There are a ton of services out there Alison. You really just need to google them. Some of us paid graphic designers and/or web designers and others used services online where you can do it yourself - sometimes for a fee, and sometimes not.

Guess you really need to have some idea of what you want to do and achieve.

I provide web hosting and web design services and can assist you with those and can refer you to a graphic designer but there are also sure to be some here as well and they'll probably pop in soon.

Hi Alison

Without knowing you it's difficult to advise you whether to have a go at designing your own logo, but I'll try...

Are you an artistic person? Do you look at other logos and think "I could do better than that!". If yes, then have a go and post your results on the 'community reviews' section. You'll get some (brutally) honest feedback.

Branding is very important. Have you ever wondered why people are happy to pay $200 for a pair of sneakers that are made from the same materials and in the same factory as a $30 pair? Or why people buy Ipods for twice the price of other equally good MP3 players? Branding makes the difference. In fact for many large companies the value of their brand is many times higher than the combined value of the rest of the company.

Hello Alison,

Take a look at http://www.forums.digitalpoint.com in the services section.

You could get someone to make up a great logo for under 50 AUD.

Hope this helps,

Regards, David Pagotto

Hi Alison,
Good luck with your project, but remeber to register a business name first. No designer will start on a logo unless the business name is registered. Saves having to rehash or start again more than likely, in the event your first chosen name wasn't already taken or registerable.
If you decide on a name, then register the .com and/or .com.au's... then work on your logo design and website etc

Good luck

Business name registration is not the responsibility of a designer.

Its the responsibility of the business owner.
My point is, no designer will start work on a new logo design for a business that doesnt have a registered business name. Who wants to spend 3-5 hours designing a logo, only to find "oh that name hasn't been registered, they say I cant have that, so Im changing the business name to .... "

Designer has to start again...

And that's the responsibility of the owner. The designer couldn't care less if it's registered or not. If they don't do their research, the client loses $ + time.

Try visiting: http://www.99designs.com

Great website allows you to post a project, such as a logo / website design and designers will create various designs for you to critique. You then pick the one you like, i.e. the winning design and only pay for the design you've chosen. It's a good way to find designers, keep your budget quite low, and have multiple designers work on your project and give you options at once.

Please!!.....everyone stop recommending this company. Stick to what you know best, rather than what you think you know.
