Re: Save Printer Ink or Toner
I think this ebook is a great idea. I used to work in a high paper office and implemented a paper/toner savings strategy. I have some tips in addition to the ones above.
1. Proof check your work before printing. Use print preview and spell check functions before printing.
2. Decide how you want to archive records. Electronic archiving will reduce printed archives.
3. Use compatible print cartridges. In my experience, the quality is on par with branded inks. Note: This may not save ink alone, but will dramatically reduce costs.
4. Let you printer power down properly before turning it off or use the appropriate button on your printer that allows this. If you turn the power off while your print heads are in an exposed position, the ink will dry out faster.
5. Configure your printer settings. Use toner saving, draft, monochrome modes. Reduce the print resolution if your work allows.
6. Where available, use print text only options, for example, in web browsers. You can also choose not to print background templates and images in slideshows and web pages.
7. Believe it or not, people have created are "eco-friendly" fonts that can save large percentages of ink/toner.
I'll see if I can track down a document I wrote about this. Good luck with the ebook.
Cheers,
Bevan
