Unfortunately old habits are hard to shake.

52 years of getting up early and having to wear working type clothes, I find hard to shake.

Still awake and outta bed by 6.30am walking the dog then breakfast shower and dressed. Still cant quite get my head around the WHY?

Dosent mean to say I look smart actually Im more of a slob now than ever before. Havent shaved in years. Check flannel shirt outside a pair of cotton work slacks, from Vinnies and plastic shoes no socks.

Hey Im comfortable, and besides apart from "shewhomustbe" who cares......

interesting discussion - for me it depends where I need to be of course, its rare I have a whole day working from home so I'll nornally end up getting dressed smartly, it kind of makes me feel like i'm ready for work.

I've just come across this post whilst trying to get a break from the rest.

It's funny to find this... I have been thinking only this morning on the way to my fulltime job, how nice it would be just to wear a pair of leggings and a nice top at work... and the next thought was - soon!

I don't I could work at home in pj's. I don't like the idea and I wouldn't be productive. Just something comfortable to wear, pretty much my favorites I can't wear while I'm working for someone else (and someone else is a big company).

But I also couldn't dress up as I have to now for work. I don't like the corporate style and can't wait to get away from it.

I wouldn't wear shorts this short in an office.

Looks like I'm an odd-woman-out in this discussion.

I love to get dressed for work. It doesn't have to be conservative wear, but its always as well-dressed as I feel like being that day. Otherwise when would I get the chance to wear my nice things?

Getting into yoga wear puts my mind into yoga space, ditto gym gear.
After a shower, dress, and makeup I'm ready for the day. Maybe this is because I had a ten year break from the corporate world and it's still a novelty?

If I have no meetings, then most of the time I'll at least dress for the day, even if it's just in jeans. Although, after having a few days in a row, rushing about for meetings and being dressed up, I love a day in the office being comfortable in a pair of trackies.

Clothing styles don't make a difference to me, but then again I do pretty much all my work inside my head. As long as I'm not freezing or overheating, and I wouldn't get arrested walking down the street, whatever I'm wearing gets pushed to the mental background.

Meeting clients, sure, throw on a suit or whatever. The rest of the time, though, it's just not on the radar.

I like to go down to my village a buy a latte, check the mail box etc, so I dress nice & put some make up on. This makes me more "in work mode" and motivates me for the day (that's possibly the caffeine hit) but I love it & to me - having the choice to do exactly what I want, is the reason I work for myself, from home.
