This August, Small Business Festival Victoria invites you to participate in the hundreds of free and low cost events taking place across Victoria. Keep reading for five ways you can get involved!
1. Learn new marketing tips and tricks
If you are looking for information on the latest marketing trends, Small Business BIG Marketing is for you.
This half-day event is dedicated to improving marketing practices across the small business sector and is a must for small business owners and operators.
Speakers include:
- Ken Segall, former advertising agency creative for Steve Jobs and author of “Insanely Simple”
- Valerie Khoo, award winning director of the Australian Writers’ Centre
- Julia Palmer, networking strategist from the Australian Networking Academy
The event also incorporates, seminars, a marketing services exhibition and free mentoring and networking opportunities. As festival supporters, Robert and Peter from Flying Solo will be manning a stand, so be sure to pop by!

2. Attend from home
The Festival’s webinar series brings the best minds in business online so you can access great content and ideas wherever you are doing business in Victoria. Join Robert Gerrish, Flying Solo founder and director as he hosts three exclusive festival webinars:

- Ten ways to shine on social media
- Ten ways to simplify, automate and outsource
Simply visit the festival website to register. You will then receive a reminder on the day of your webinar and can log in at any time. If you can’t make the scheduled time, still register for them as the webinars are recorded and accessible online after the event.
3. Get free mentoring from a business expert
Whether you’re new to running a business or an established business owner, the Victorian Government’s Small Business Bus can help you to develop your business ideas and capabilities.
Free mentoring is available on board from specialists who can help you refine your business strategy, map out a path forward and assist in setting goals for your business to succeed.
The Small Business Bus will be travelling throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria for the duration of the Festival.

4. Hear inspiring success stories
Be inspired by this year’s Faces of Small Business: an exhibition showcasing ten Victorians going above and beyond for their staff, customers, community and the planet.
The exhibition can be seen at Bendigo, Windsor, Geelong and Frankston railway stations throughout August. Additional locations are set to be announced.
