By using the website you agree to be bound by the following terms of use, which shall take effect immediately. If you do not agree to all the following terms of use, then please stop using the site.

As a visitor to the site, you agree to use it for lawful purposes only. Prohibited behaviour includes harassing or causing distress to any person by posting messages with obscene or offensive language, or disrupting the normal flow of dialogue between users of the website.

Your comments

Each comment is checked by a spam filter. Comments deemed spam are witheld from publication and are sent to a moderator. While the filter picks up most spam, it will also withhold some messages that aren’t spam. These "innocent" comments are uploaded within 24 hours, normally sooner.

If your comment is intercepted in this way, you will be made aware via a message saying “Your comment has been sent for moderation and will be posted soon.”

How we moderate

We prefer to moderate with a light touch. We will make no attempt to steer conversation that occurs via the commenting system and prefer instead to let it take its course. If the FS team wants to engage in discussion we will add our own comments rather than manipulating via sleight of hand, i.e. deleting comments we don't agree with.

While it is unusual for a comment to be deleted/modified by us, we will intervene under these circumstances:

We deem the comment spam or off topic;
It contains formatting or multiple spelling errors - these will be corrected and reposted;
We consider the comment offensive or otherwise inappropriate.

If you spot a live comment that you feel needs removing, please report it here.

That said, users should be aware that whenever you participate via the comments facility or email us directly, we reserve the right to edit and/ or reproduce material on the website and/ or in the newsletter or elsewhere.
