Soloist in the Spotlight, Jill Keyte

Jill KeyteLocation

Sydney, Australia

Occupation

Company owner – Arts and Event Management

What’s the most enjoyable element of your work…?

The event and seeing people thoroughly enjoy themselves.

…and the least enjoyable?

Raising the sponsorship.

What is the one regret you do not want to have in this lifetime?

That I didn’t play the game of life to the full.

If you could pick anyone to be your personal assistant, who would it be and why?

My current assistant. She is open, coachable and helps make my business hum.

What’s your number one stress relief tactic?

A walk along the beach or through lush vegetation.

Who, or what, is your biggest inspiration?

A great event and my coach. Magnificent events like the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony thrill and transport me. My coach gives me the confidence to dream that I can play in that arena.

What star sign are you? Do you believe in horoscopes?

Sagittarius. I think I am a true Sagittarius, but don’t get hooked on horoscopes in case they don’t go my way. I don’t want to be disappointed.

Do you subscribe to any magazines or newspapers?

Yes, Sydney Morning Herald, Encore and B& T.

Would you describe yourself as a technophobe or technophile?

Sadly a technophobe. I get overwhelmed by the range and don’t know where to start.

What actor/actress would play the lead in the story of your life?

Isabella Rossellini.

You’ve got a free half hour during your work day. What do you do?

Go for a walk along Woolloomooloo Bay to the Botanic Gardens – real brain food!

What’s your proudest moment?

In September 2000, watching an event I had co-ordinated – the light of the Olympic Rings on the Sydney Harbour Bridge. This took place when Olivia Newton-John ignited Pat Rafter’s Olympic Torch at the Opera House. It was accompanied by a celebratory thrust of fireworks from the Bridge Pylons. A very exciting moment. It worked!
