Putting your subconscious to work

This week's newsletter is a day late, due to a technical issue we encountered yesterday. Sorry for that, happily all is resolved now.

Recently I became aware of the incredible impact of…well, being aware.

I had become ever so vaguely curious about a certain type of software.

That weekend, I was listening to the radio and heard an in-depth report on how it had risen to prominence. Three days later I came across a newspaper article describing specific products which had been built using the software. The day after that, I met a technical bod at a networking function and was, miraculously, able to hold my own in a conversation on the topic.

A topic that I had known nothing about only a week earlier.

Serendipity, coincidence, synchronicity; call it what you will, we've all experienced it.

It's in action when you become aware of repeated exposure to a word or a saying, particularly one you hadn't known or properly understood. It's also at work on the days an old song pops into your head, only to be played on the radio five minutes later.

Perhaps you've experienced it through a new and sudden increase in knowledge, as was the case with me.

Now whether my discovery has any practical application remains to be seen. What amazes me, though, is the way it stopped being 'out there' and instead became a part of my reality.

I could swear I hadn't consciously chosen to find out more on the subject, yet relevant information seemed to filter itself my way.

If my conscious mind was not at work, maybe my subconscious was? Perhaps opening your subconscious to something can help lure it your way.

What an incredible thought!

Do you believe you can attune yourself to 'suddenly see' anything you want?

Share your thoughts with your fellow soloists on the online version.

Until next week.

Love your work,

  • Hey Sam., that reminds me the way my Auntie Gwen chooses to know everything about our whole family. Being open to news and hearsay and then being able to transfer those stories!! Hee Hee Dale from Bunbury

  • Spot on Sam. I am truly a great believer in the power of positive thought. In fact I have been reading some great things lately about that very subject.
My favourite saying - If you think you can you're right & If you think you can't you're right

  • LOL! Being aware and alert to life's opportunities, forces and information is different to "being a know it all". It is exactly how it you described Sam. I know from personal experience the clarity of thought, vision, and focus (and action) delivers the expected outcome. If you focus on nothing, then that's exactly what you get and you live reactionally. Grateful for what you get. Focus on what you genuinely want, and that's what presents itself in your world.
A quote I like is "We fail to see that we control our own destiny; make ourselves do whatever is possible; make ourselves become whatever we long to be." Orison Swett Marden
What you think about is what you get ... put in simple terms!

  • Sam.. It's quite amusing that you should wriite about this very topic. Only a few weeks ago I found myself being interested in this phenomena. My initial interest lead to a series of events and situations that would provide me with more information on the topic. There's a saying that if you put it out there, the universe will provide! The term is "Affirmation"..we can all make affirmations, whether it be conscious or subconscious. It is a means of getting what we want through positive thought. Good luck with it! Daniel from Townsville, Australia

  • For anyone interested in reading more about these ideas, there are plenty of books available. A great starting point is 'The power of your subconscious mind' by Joseph Murphy. First published in 1963, it's proof that these ideas have been 'out there' for a while, well before the latest wave of information on 'intention' and 'attraction'. It's all good, especially if it means we become more conscious of how our thoughts (or lack of) influence the results we get in our lives! Susan Rochester from Balance at Work

  • As a graphic designer, it's my job to interpret ideas and concepts into images. An essential part of this is being able to pick up on the smallest of details. Keeping my mind open to all information that is swirling around "out there" gives me absolute results. A great example of this was while working with an interstate client I had not actually seen. I developed a logo for their company. Upon receiving the image, they could not believe that the design matched the candelabras they had bought for the business that day. Subconscious information at work! Rebecca from Brisbane
