September is the time for action

time for actionSpring is a time of new life, and that’s exactly what we can do with September. Now is the perfect time to reassess your business and do some of the things you have been putting off all year. Now is the time for action!

In my work I am constantly exposed to new information, so it’s not that I don’t have ideas for giving my business a new life, but it’s an issue of discipline….or lack of it! In September, I'll focus my attention on implementing the framework of a new life.

Here’s some of the things I’ve been putting off that I’m planning to do:

  • Apply that well known principle of only touching pieces of paper once. That should lead to a much-needed reduction of clutter in my office and make me dangerously productive.
  • Review the list of information sources I subscribe to – e-newsletters, blog feeds, newspapers, magazines, association newsletters and more – and slash it. Being able to read a manageable amount of information, should make me dangerously well-informed.
  • Draw up a list of people I haven’t seen for ages, but whose company I truly enjoy, and make plans to see them between now and the end of the year. Reconnecting with people I value should make me dangerously chirpy.
  • Organise my finances so that I can sit down twice a month and pay my bills. This feeling of being ‘on top’ of accounts should make me dangerously focused on other aspects of my business.
  • Re-imagine my soloist lifestyle and make plans to build on its strengths and compensate for its weaknesses. Being able to see a clearer, more-attainable future should make me dangerously closer to achieving that goal.

If I work my way through this list, I will consider September a good month.

None of these action items are rocket science and taking time out to actually apply them isn’t either. So join me. You’ll be dangerous too!

  • You've hit the nail on the head. These are five things we should be doing constantly but so often we let them slip with the end result that we are operating at a level below what our full potential. Robert Johnson from Melbourne

I particularly like the point about Re- Imagening, the imagination is such a powerful tool to learn to use efficiently to achieve our goals

  • I LOVE this site. Useful articles, straight to the point. I will add one thing to help free up some precious time. Try to delegate a little. One thing would do. What takes you the longest time and is the least productive. For me it is the book keeping. It has freed my mind of the hated thing. I can spend more time here. Thats productive, isn't it? Paul Tooze from www.InvestorLinks.com.au

  • Yes, September is time for action! If you haven't given your end of financial year paper work to your accountant, it's time to do so.Have you? Judit Nagy from www.theofficewitch.com.au from Sydney
