Many jobs are covered by a federal or state award that outlines the rights and obligations of employers and the legally binding minimum wage rates and employment conditions for employees.
Some workplaces and individuals are covered by an agreement that sets out wages and conditions of employment.
Written contracts of employment can also set out wages and conditions for employees not covered by an award or agreement.
As an employer, you will need to determine if the new federal workplace relations system affects you and if so, what you need to comply with.
For more information about minimum rates of pay and conditions under this system, view the pay and conditions page on the Workplace Authority website.
