Greenhouse emissions reporting

Monday 30 June 2008

If your business emits large amounts of greenhouse gases, you may be required to monitor and measure your emissions from 1 July 2008 as part of the new National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting System.

Specific emissions thresholds apply to corporations and an Emissions and Energy Calculator is available to help you assess if you required to start reporting.

Although measurement of emissions should start from 1 July 2008, businesses have until 31 August 2009 to register under the scheme, and have until 31 October 2009 to submit their first annual greenhouse and energy report.

For further information on the reporting system, visit the Greenhouse and Energy Reporting page on the Department of Climate Change website.
