We ask the tough questions
What’s your number one stress relief tactic (keep it clean!)?
A good session of Yin Yoga. In one 10-minute pose the entire world has receded to a speck on the horizon.
What’s your favourite film, book and album?
Inception, Vanity Fair and right now Little Dragon’s Ritual Union; sure that’s a mixed bag but variety and spice and life etc. etc.
What’s the smartest bit of marketing you’ve ever done?
Putting up prices on applicable services on the website. Getting help from a designer shouldn’t seem like a mystery, it should be as easy and straightforward as ordering a pizza.
What’s the most enjoyable element of your work? And the least enjoyable?
There are lots of enjoyable bits but I particularly like the first meeting. Starting to get to know them all (houses are people too) is often the beginning of a lovely adventure with a happy ending.
What’s the cheapest, most effective bit of marketing you’ve ever done?
Designing and printing my business cards. Old fashioned as that may sound now, 100 per cent of people who I give a card to hold it, admire and comment on it.
Where and when do you have your best ideas?
It’s happened enough to be more than random that I have my genius moments during my morning shower.
What website do you visit every day? Apart from the banking you mean?
What talent do you most wish you possessed?
I’ve always wanted to be able to paint or draw at least but I’ve got nothing in that department.
What would your mum say is your greatest strength? And weakness?
What do you love most about running your own business?
Collaborating with talented architects, professional tradespeople and a host of other small business who are Sterling’s support network.
What’s your number one tip for overcoming procrastination?
And now comes the plug!
What do you do? Who for? And how does it benefit them?
We help Brisbane home owners who are considering improving, renovating or decorating any part of their home or investment property. The true benefits of living in a well-designed and harmoniously decorated space are multifaceted, with an uplifted sense of wellbeing and feeling of belonging, plus improved interaction by inhabitants being just a few beyond the more obvious ones of increased property value and appeal.
