We ask the tough questions

You’ve got a free half hour during your work day. What do you do?

Harness up my dog and go to the beach for some hole digging in the sand. There’s always a feeling of accomplishment when you see how big a hole you and your dog can create!

What’s your number one stress relief tactic (keep it clean!)?

Silence. My work day is full of phones ringing and computers beeping. I like to take 15 minutes of silence a day, usually lying on the floor or couch.

What’s the most obscure business request you’ve ever had?

A client I provide personal assistant services for asked me to pick up her Marena, a contraceptive device that had to be collected from the chemist so she could have the procedure done the next day.

What’s the most enjoyable element of your work? And the least enjoyable?

The most enjoyable element is looking back over the time I’ve worked with my clients and seeing how far their business has come in terms of the backend administrative tasks, allowing them time to grow their business. The least enjoyable is when a client’s business grows so much that they need to employ a full-time assistant and say good-bye to me.

What’s the cheapest, most effective bit of marketing you’ve ever done?

Commenting on forums has worked well as people start to come out of the woodwork and say they saw my post and could I help them.

What’s the biggest challenge you face at work?

Learning to have some work/life balance. Sometimes I can get carried away and forget that I need to take some time out for myself.

What do you wear to work?

Often it’s my PJs! I figure I might as well be comfortable and no one sees me.

If your office caught fire, what would you grab first? What would you toss into the flames?

My computer tower. I know it’s all backed up but instinct would have me grab it first. Toss in the flames – my printer, it's very temperamental so it can go!

If you could pick anyone to be your personal assistant, who would it be and why?

I would clone another one of me. It takes time and patience to download all the information in my brain so if I can have another me, then thumbs up!

How would you describe yourself in three adjectives?

Determined, dedicated, dorky.

Do you prefer crosswords, logic puzzles or neither?

Definitely crosswords. Nothing better than sitting down in the sunshine, engrossed in a good crossword.

And now comes the plug!

What do you do? Who for? And how does it benefit them?

I provide professional, cost effective, secretarial services for businesses and individuals throughout Australia to reduce the burden of administrative tasks.
