What's the best bit of feedback you've ever had?
That I deserve only good things in my life because I am so generous with my help to others! What a lovely thing to have said to me – and, by a Flying Solo member at that! I started this company truly wanting to give SMEs access to professional expertise in an area they often can’t afford, so, to know I’m on track means everything to me, and to the development and growth of my company.
What’s the smartest bit of marketing you’ve ever done?
Contributing articles to third party websites and blogs. This has generated great interest in my services. This has been fantastic for business – but it has also allowed me to build some amazing relationships that I wouldn’t have otherwise.
What’s the most enjoyable element of your work? And the least enjoyable?
Most enjoyable is the relationships I get to build with my clients. Most of my clients are in start-up or early phases of business – being a part of that and knowing that their brands are protected is massively rewarding. My client’s brands are their babies, their livelihoods – knowing I play a part in safeguarding that and seeing how excited they are when things start to fall into place is exciting.
Least enjoyable? The mundane ‘stuff’ really, such as keeping books in order, and keeping workspace tidy and organised. For the most part, I love all elements of what I do!
What’s the cheapest, most effective bit of marketing you’ve ever done?
See above – definitely the writing of guest articles/posts on other websites. Costs a bit of time (no actual handing over of money) and has proven more successful than I could have imagined.
What’s the best thing about being a soloist? And the worst thing?
The best thing is definitely the freedom to work in a way that suits me and is most effective to provide great service to my clients. I can have flexibility about when I work and what work I do. The worst thing about being a soloist, for me, is the lack of fresh eyes and ears when needing to brainstorm or generally bounce ideas around.

Flying Solo of course! The sites I frequent most are probably pretty boring to others! www.asic.gov.au; www.wipo.int; www.ipaustralia.gov.au etc.
How would you describe yourself in three adjectives?
Approachable, passionate and dedicated.

What do you do? Who for? And how does it benefit them?
We offer affordable, friendly and reliable services in connection with trademark registration (Australia & Overseas) and related matters. Trademark registration is essentially brand protection for names, logos, slogans etc. I started this company to provide these services to the SME sector at rates much lower than often associated with these services.
