We ask the tough questions

Would you describe yourself as a technophobe or technophile?

Does sleeping with your laptop count? Seriously though, I love modern technology especially if it makes my life and work more enjoyable. I also delight in turning technophobes into technophiles. Some of my clients who originally sweated every time they sat at a PC now scare me with their ideas!

Who, or what, is your biggest inspiration?

The Dalai Lama. You have to admire a man with such a peaceful inner core.

What's the best bit of feedback you've ever had?

It doesn’t get any better than “you are Awesome! Awesome! And Awesome!”.

What’s the smartest bit of marketing you’ve ever done?

As soon as I get on the first page of Google search results, I will let you know.

What’s the one resource you’d never be without?

The Internet! It is a solid resource for my work, a place I can keep track of family and friends over the globe, a great place to shop and most important of all a way of watching television and downloading movies from all over the world!

What’s the most obscure business request you’ve ever had?

“Can you help fix this thing I have a problem with?”

What’s the biggest challenge you face at work?

You mean apart from thinking that I have to do some?

What’s the best thing about being a soloist?

Being in control of my own business.

What would be your advice to aspiring soloists?

Make good use of forums like Flying Solo and at least put some work into a business plan to get you clearly focused before you start.

What inspires you most about your work?

That I get an opportunity to make a real difference to my clients.

If your office caught fire, what would you grab first? What would you toss into the flames?

I would grab my laptop… my mobile phone…my laptop…my mobile phone. And if there was enough time and I wasn’t burnt to a crisp, the cats. As for who...er...what…I would toss into the flames I plead the fifth!

And now comes the plug!

What do you do? Who for? And how does it benefit them?

Combining both business coaching and small business consulting services, I am able to offer a fully comprehensive approach to helping small business owner’s achieve their dreams. Understanding that small businesses are all unique and in different stages of their Business Life Cycle is fundamental to the way I work with my clients. This means providing services that are affordable and geared at generating a positive impact on my customers profitability, but also providing additional support services where the client does not have the skills or the time to get involved in the detail.

The focus is on guidance and teaching my customers the level of detail they need to understand to be able to run their business profitably and effectively, as well as providing them with the right tools to help them along the way. There is the added bonus that I do not object to keeping to their timetable and am more than happy to talk to them when it best suits them, even late at night or on weekends.
