We ask the tough questions

You’ve got a free half hour during your work day. What do you do?

Let's imagine this free half hour is my lunch break. During lunch I love to keep myself inspired and educated. I watch TedX videos, they are fabulous for giving you inspiration for the last part of your work day. I also find they keep me on track and focused on my long-term/big/secret project goals ... nothing like a bit of inspiration to put fire in your belly!

What’s your proudest moment?

Absolute proudest moment was the unveiling of the rebrand and rename from my old business name to The Golden Goose. It was a huge amount of work - but was thoroughly worth the effort to change people's perceptions about my business. You can read more about the rename/rebrand here.

What’s the cheapest, most effective bit of marketing you’ve ever done?

If you are good at what you do, you do it well, you manage expectations, meet expectations and exceed expectations - you will go far! This has been by far the most effective and cheapest form of marketing.

What’s the best piece of business advice you’ve ever been given?

Absolutely golden advice: "Your success is dependent on others. You are not an island." This has had a huge impact as to how I run my business - seeing other businesses thrive knowing I had a hand in it is terribly addictive!

What’s one habit you’d like to change?

I would love to be able to hate chocolate, really - I would! On a serious note, I am and have always been extremely independent, for this reason I struggle with outsourcing and have a habit of doing too much myself. First step is acknowledgement, right?

What is the one regret you do not want to have in this lifetime?

The worst regret for me would be something I haven't done, like my little row of ideas or side projects. Just go for it! No matter what it is, do your research then get out there and make it happen.

What inspires you most about your work?

Seeing other people get their "sparkle" back. Seriously. It is so thrilling to hand out brand advice, see it put into action and see a business owner or corporate manager get their passion and pride for their business back.

What do you love most about running your own business?

Quality control! I love knowing my clients, what they need, what they don't, knowing they are receiving a fabulous service, fabulous customer service and fabulous feedback on the services I provide.

What book are you reading?

Start With Why. Currently extremely Simon Sinek obsessed (shhhh, don't tell him)! He is amazing and so inspiring, just started the book last night and will probably finish over the weekend.

How did your school report describe you (in three words)?

Achiever. Self-motivated. Puts in 100%. (But then, they also said I was good at sport hehehe).

And now comes the plug!

What do you do? Who for? And how does it benefit them?

I engineer fabulous brands through company naming, brand identity and design for businesses of all sizes. This results in a significant amount of what I like to call "sparkle" - pride in your business and brand while making your competitors jealous! Im also co-host to Jolly Solo - the small business owner's Christmas Party in Sydney.
