We ask the tough questions of Rebecca Fisher, Clearly Creative

When did you know you wanted to start your own business?

I have known most of my life that I wanted to not only run my own business but to work with graphic design and website design.

Growing the confidence in myself to take the first steps involved a lot of years working for other people in different industries, and paying a lot of attention to how they ran their business and their processes.

Working for myself has been, and still is, every bit as satisfying as I thought it would be all those years ago.

What’s your proudest moment?

The highlight of my year was winning silver and bronze awards in the 2014 Summit Creative Awards.

Knowing that I am on the right track, and producing design products that can help boost my clients’ business is immensely satisfying.

What’s your number one stress relief tactic (keep it clean!)?

I grow vegetables.

Heading outside and soaking up some sunshine gets me away from the computer and helps clear my head. My aim is to grow most of my own veggies and fruit but I am still in the early stages.

I love to see things grow, and this leads back to why I do what I do, growing vegetables or helping to grow a business.

What’s the cheapest, most effective bit of marketing you’ve ever done?

The cheapest and most effective marketing I have ever done is social media!

I know this sounds like a cliché but social media, when used correctly, really does work. If you have relevant and informative posts that portray your products and services effectively and provide information your current and potential clients need and can use, then social media such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Google+ can help build your business.

What’s the best thing about being a soloist? And the worst thing?

The absolute best thing is being successful and knowing that I made it happen. I work for myself and push myself to achieve greatness.

The worst thing is the isolation from colleagues. However, as my business grows I will be introducing new colleagues, solving that problem.

What is the one regret you do not want to have in this lifetime?

Not taking the leap and stepping outside my comfort zone.

I am typically a shy person and have let a few opportunities slide by due to lack of confidence with people and situations.

I have learnt from the past that I need to push myself to take those steps. I find my confidence grows more each and every day.

What inspires you most about your work?

Watching my clients become successful and receiving their amazing feedback.

What do you love most about running your own business?

Running my own business has provided me with the freedom to complete my workload in and around my day to day interests, which include a young family.

And now comes the plug for Rebecca Fisher, Clearly Creative!
