During the recession we had to have, all those years back, nearly all the carpet cleaners I know discounted their prices. We concequently suffered and many went out of business.

There were others I know that didnt discount and their businesses remained strong.

There are times when it is wise to offer a discount but in general don’t.
Some customers see discounting as a sign of desperation, that you are prepared to pay for your services, or that you are not confident in what you do.

Why not be bold and increase your prices. Surely you are the Best in your field, otherwise you would not have gone out as a Soloist.
I recently increased my prices and instead of loosing customers I am gaining around ten new ones each week. As I can’t handle the work I pass them on to other members within my industry networking group.
