But first, to understand my perspective, one must accept two ‘inconvenient truths’.

1: It is still possible to run a successful business without a website.

2: e-mail and the web are not inextricably interwoven.

Try as I might, I can’t see what’s dodgy or unprofessional about that.

Its still possible to run a successful business without a phone too, business cards, letterheads or a logo, but why would you?

The biggest problem with web based communications is that there is not a high level of trust or confidence, the relationship starts with a high level of mistrust and works backwards.

Anything you can do to increase that level of trust is important.

ISP email is the electronic equivelent of a wee stain on the front of your pants, nobody will say anything, everyone will notice, and under their breath say, gee wish they would sort themselves out.
