The worst thing that you can do if you are not experienced in hosting and web design is to try and do it on the cheap.

Unless of course you like being a pinball.

Whose responsibility is it when your website stops working?

Well it’s yours if you have decided to go with that $5.99 special on domain hosting with company A & the cheap web hosting with company B and the cheap web design from company C.

If you split these functions up, you end up being responsible for all of them. So when something goes wrong you have to pay someone else to come in and try and fix it, which is great for someone like me.

If however you do your web design, hosting and domain name service through the same provider, when something goes wrong it’s their responsibility to fix it and because it’s a service it will be at no cost to you.

Quite often when someone has set these services up, though they keep do not keep their details handy, there are three lots of details, basically it’s a dog’s breakfast.

It can take many many hours to try and resolve these issues and find out where the root cause of the problem is.

This adds up to anywhere between $200 to $1000 to solve a problem.

We charge $30 a month for hosting, $65 a year to domain names.

Over the years we have had heaps of clients who were doing it themselves changeover and gladly pay the extra money so they no longer are a pinball.
