Hi QS. I ran (then sold) a successful premium SMS service, and our offline advertising started with handing out cards around nightspots on friday/saturday evnings. Costs were a few hundred dollars to get a few thousand business card ‘flyers’ and a few hundred dollars more to hire promo staff to do the hand outs. From there we moved to radio advertising then tv (once the budgets picked up). Best thing to create a buzz about your product/service though is to throw a free event somewhere. We sponsored a charity event outdoors (with the aim to be immortallised in google maps when they did the high res Sydney fly over a few years ago) and it created a heap of publicity.
