Unless your customers are in IT I wouldn’t think too many of them will be aware of eway or securepay. I think the banks host the payment page themselves right? This is the safest way to do things but personally if I was paying for a gateway I’d want to host my own checkout page. Customers are more used to this method and the checkout process is easier.

Many people suggest using a third party gateway as that way you won’t be locked into a single bank. If you change your bank the code interfacing with the gateway can remain the same.

I’m using PayPal only at the moment and telling my customers to click on the ‘continue’ links to checkout without a PayPal account. In most instances, this method works and it saves me paying over $500 a year for a payment gateway and a different merchant account.
