I have two Facebook business pages:

And have been learning a heap with them this year.

In a nutshell:
* social media gives you the chance to start earlier in the sales cycle – getting to know your customers, their interests and getting your name out there.

* It’s one part promotion, one part sharing and one part conversation

* if responses are low, try something different – look at those who are doing well with it and learn

* content is really important – stories, competitions, questions, photos, links, sharing stories and blog posts

* update regularly – be consistent

* get involved in shout outs and be friendly

I’ve been interviewing women making a success on facebook this year and learning from them. Their stories, tips and ideas are at: http://www.sheinspires.com.au/social-media-tips

For me, Facebook has really reflected the effort I’ve put in – I’ve increased my readership, newsletter subscribers and advertisers and I’ve grown it consistently. It hasn’t been an over night success but I haven’t paid for that either. I have free marketing that is enjoyable and easy. I spent about 10 – 30 minutes a day on average on it. It’s the consistency that matters.

You might find an online assistant is what you need – the right virtual assistant maybe?

Good luck!
