I would agree with Wendy – best to be consistent, plus if you do have some expenses that for some reason don’t have GST, that needs to be clearly shown on the invoice. The legislation gives you the option – if the GST is exactly 1/11th you can show it separately or provide a statement such as ‘total price includes GST’. If it is not exactly 1/11th – ie some is Gst Free you have to show the GST amount and the total amount excluding GST for the sale. There are some slightly more rigorous requirements if the invoice is more than $1000. Overall you have to show total amount of GST and total sales amount – but it is easier if you show everything in a consistent manner.
