Hi Niki,
Speaking from experience working with a friend in business can be hard. First thing first though, do you really want to work this business? How pasionate are you to make it work and do you love what you are doing?
If you really want this, then you could look at planning, and set a direction for the business together. Include your financials, goals, objectives and what each of you bring to the table. Set the goals and set your budget. With a clear outline it may work better for you.
By identifying what your roles and responsibilities are you and your friend can focus on what you eeach need to do to grow the business, without stepping on each others toes!
My motto (though it may not work for everyone) is to love what you do, that is why I started by business, because I love what I do and it is never a ‘task’ to do it!
