These scammers never let up do they!

Today I got a different one – supposedly from the ATO; telling me that they’d assessed my tax return and I am due for a refund. Of course, there was a link to click on so that I could see how much my refund is.

After the last annual calculation of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund . Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 3-6 days in order to process it

No – I didn’t click any links or follow through. It was almost convincing and come from an “at ato . gov. au” address. It was sent to the scam section of the ATO.

How did I know it’s a scam – the email address they sent it to, is not one listed with the Tax Office. It was one lifted straight off my website.

Stay alert – and if in doubt, throw ’em out. (or at least ring the supposed sender to check)
