If you install the Web Developer toolbar for Firefox and then do: Information > Document Outline, you will see any badly nested heading tags. The usual error is to mark the navigation links as H tags.

If there are no H tags then Google takes the cue from font size and emphasis. If you want all H tags to be the same size and font in CSS then go ahead, but don’t have an H3 without a preceding H2.

Great information thank you. I’ll then be looking to have just one H1 at the very top of the content followed by content & maybe a couple more h2 tags, content & so forth.
