I certainly wouldn’t advocate that businesses ditch traditional marketing avenues in favour of social media and online marketing…. but neither should they ignore these new avenues.

Even if 50% of your market aren’t using these mediums… wouldn’t that indicate 50% are?

In my mind, the best course would be to devise a strategy which combines the best of both worlds, with options available for those who are up with the modern methods, and options for those who are still wary of it (with a healthy dose of client education along the way).

After all, Kodak went bust from not embracing modern technology (that, ironically, they invented) and Yellow Pages are still scrambling to catch up with the huge swing to online marketing.

There’s only so long you can keep your head in the sand and hope to remain relevant.
