The odds of having 10 staff all performing at the top rate are very slim…unless of course you fire the bottom 2 every year :) The reason is you have 2 staff performing worse than the other 8 staff… :)

One doesnt have to fire poor staff, one just pays them less, and diverts the funds to the good performers…another option is to make your workers casual and give the hard workers the hours and the poor workers the bare minimum…plenty of places do that…it would depend on how skilled the labour is as to what works best…

I think the idea is to reward according to productivity…some people don’t respond to that…so they have to go :)
