Gail thanks for that advice…

I think in my case the virtual consultant may not be an option. I am looking for an IT developer/web site designer to assist me with projects that I receive from clients. The role will require specific technical skills. I have used ODesk and eLance for previous short engagements on projects but for this case I am looking for a longer term engagement with someone that is local for some face-to-face sessions when needed….

Hi Scott, There are lots of virtual consultants who specialise in “techy stuff” and do ongoing work for clients. Most will be happy to meet face-to-face, if they are local to you. The benefit is that you only pay for the time you need – you don’t have to hire for a minimum number of hours per week as you do with staff.

If you don’t find what you’re looking for in hiring someone, it might be worth contacting Kathy Thomas who operates a VA Directory. She can send a Request For Proposal to her members with your specific requirements to see if there is anyone suitable to help you. I think Kathy may even be a member of FS too. You can contact her at [email protected]

All the best. Would love to hear the outcome of your search.
