Finding a niche is good in so far as you are able to get the right kind of bait to entice the prospect to bite, but it can also limit your appeal for those who are just a little off the niche – they see you as a dedicated specialist and maybe not a generalist.

It’s tough – we want to appeal for our special skills but being too narrow in focus means we limit the breadth of our appeal.

Overall, niche specificity is a good thing – define your strengths and work hard on them instead of trying to improve your weaknesses up to an overall mediocrity.
