Don’t let it tangle you up too much.

I recommend that you use the presence of competitors in your field as an indication that there’s a market for what you want to do, and take it as a good sign, not a bad one.

Instead, I’d go through the list and decide which of those businesses I’d use as my benchmark (with regards to both the products/services you offer and also the way you brand yourself and position yourself in the market), and then proceed to work your way to being the standout choice for anyone who’s shopping for what you do.

I hope that helps, and seriously, don’t be demoralised… I’d be more worried about the feasibility of your idea if you had no competitors at all!
