Hi Anon,

Strictly speaking, you’re only allowed to deduct business expenses. That is, you’d have to apportion your phone bill each month by the amount of time you’ve spent on personal calls v. business calls.

However, practically, if your phone really is used primarily for business purposes and the proportion of your personal calls are “minor and infrequent” then putting the phone under your business name shouldn’t prove too problematic come tax time.
