ILS Guy did mention that this was his experience Bert. I know many electricians who quote projects with material at trade, or even retail price and are often too high in price compared to competitors. Sometimes the difference in price of materials quoted is insignificant such as on a small project – say a 10 downlight installation, the difference may be $4 in cable, $10 in plug bases and $30 in downlights. As you mentioned though Bert – some tradesmen do get the cheaper material price but don’t pass on that reduced cost to the customer and as you said, profit a bit more.
