I have been getting mixed messages with what to do strategy wise. Some people have been advising it would be better to have a range of customer groups to demonstrate the variety and attract more potential customers but I can completely see where you are coming from especially as we are just starting and have limited time to market to multiple groups.

I think wih having the focus on one group, it will likely give us more direction with our strategy instead of throwing racing, baby showers and hens all together :)

Remember, you will still find you get sales from these other customer groups, this is just about where you will focus your time, money and energy. If you try to spread your resources too thin at the start, the effect on each different type of customer will be diluted. At the beginning it’s generally better to choose one and do it well.

This is not to say that down the track when you have more resources you can’t expand your focus to additional target customers.

At the end of the day, all businesses exist for one reason – to solve a problem for someone (a particular type of person). If you try to solve too many different problems, for too many different types of people it can become very complex.
