Hi there

You may need to get in touch with a NZ lawyer/accountant for advice in this space, particularly as NZ may have similar requirements around setting up a Company as AU (you need at least one AU resident director).

If you are planning on moving there this may not be a problem, but you may not be able to incorporate until you actually have moved there (as you are unlikely to be considered a resident).

As noted, you need to get in touch with a NZ professional, and the above should not be considered advice.

Separately, tax residency is not as simple as selecting which country – there are complex domestic and international double tax agreements which govern residency – you need to consider these as and when you are making your arrangements.

By way of example, we’ve seen instances where people have moved overseas for a number of years but the ATO still consider them resident for AU tax purposes.

Regards
Nick
