Is they are material amounts the general substantiation provisions would apply. If you can’t prove it was incurred to the satisfaction of the Commissioner then you run the risk of an adverse outcome. The ATO are relatively forensic when it comes to these things. They have the resources to investigate, make calls etc. If they were fake suppliers and invoices it will likely be discovered.
