Most of the complimentary first consultations is directed at understanding the needs of a person and presenting costing options.

Consultants will rarely give away information for free. The first meeting is not to let somebody to leave, with answers, receive value and not pay.

The biggest downside is that you have to say no to somebody – which is not much of a downside. Most consultants who are independent are OK with this. The pushy guys are the ones who are really selling product and have a lot more to gain if they get a sale over the line.
