Wow, Astonished that the moderators copied me in .

To answer you question :
If your going to import wine and sparkling champagne. Then you have to realise that we in Australia have a protected industry. That basically means that along with the normal import charges you would paying :
Duty – 5% FOB VALUE OF GOODS
GST – 10% of the CIF ( cost insurance and freight value)
WET TAX – 15% depending on the alcohol content of the goods.

+ what ever freight charges you pay for the shipping line or forwarder.

This is on top of my head.

Its an expensive endeavor. You will need to ask a lot of questions and be prepared to face obstacles if this is a commercial endeavor. Personal Imports not for retail sell.. Well that’s another topic.
