I don’t see how you can possibly consider setting up a business as complex as an RTO without the advice of an accountant first and a lawyer second.

I’d suggest you search for:

  • RTO accountant(s) (in your city or even in major business areas nearest your location.)
  • RTO startup advice (in your city or even in major business areas nearest your location.)

There are heaps listed for a “Sydney” search.

You don’t tell us whether your services will only be offered to clients within a single state or nationally.

An accountant should be able to advise you on whether you need a single state business registration or a national one.

You may need a lawyer who specialises in RTO to assist with your terms of trade and service agreements. There are a bunch of “RTO accountants” to be found in Google.

I don’t know anything about RTOs. Might you also need advice to address issues like trademark registration, copyright of course material, agreements between your company and lecturers/trainers who deliver courses in your business name, etc.?
