Such a debt should be managed properly. A financial counselor will help you in the long run to manage your finances, rather than just trying to swap one debt for another (i.e. moving it to another credit card provider).

No bank is going to write off 60-70% of a debt just because you’ve offered to pay it in a lump sum – especially if you have any earning potential ahead of you (assuming you’re not 80 years old with a heart defect). Long-term payment plans will probably be your only option.
