There’s loads of info on social media signals and SEO, just google if you truly haven’t seen any, I’d have to choose one from many thousands if I was going to post some link. I’m surprised to hear someone saying they haven’t read anything about this.
But like everything no one knows for certain how much it (or anything) factors into Google’s rankings, but there is certainly plenty around to suggest it provides some level of contribution. Anything that helps Google determine the quality/seriousness of your content I would regard as a positive contributor.
And going back to what I actually wrote – “the kind that will promote sharing and/or liking” – I would find it hard to believe anyone wouldn’t support the idea that articles that are shared and liked on Social Media don’t contribute to SEO for the site the article is published on, as it’s a very clear indicator .
