I may have this wrong, but isn’t your head of sales doing just what you asked for – informing you of what they are doing? and aren’t they still going to do their work, albeit from home? Isn’t that setting a good example? You said that it doesn’t matter where or when your employees work as long as they get their work done, so how is this a problem?
It sounds like you have to write out your employees work/work from home rules and get them to sign, just like an employee contract. That should clear up misunderstandings and make sure everyone knows how to behave.
