Hi @duxilesa,

I’ll break your question into two parts:
1. How beneficial is it to regularly maintain a website?
2. Do I need a team to do daily monitoring, checking and updates?

1. Maintaining a website is critical to ensuring its performance and security. Hackers use computer software to scan the internet looking for websites with outdated software, so they can exploit security loop-holes and gain access.
Keeping your website’s software up-to-date greatly minimises the risk of your website being hacked. Also, software updates can include patches and performance upgrades that help your website to run quickly and smoothly.

2. Depending on the size of the website and the framework it is built on, it’s unlikely you would need “a team”.
As @paul-fs-concierge mentioned, tasks like daily monitoring are usually automated by software, but other tasks like plugin, theme and framework updates need someone to inspect and test the site, to make sure the updates all play nicely with each other.

For a WordPress website, most monthly maintenance tasks can be performed in about an hour, at a cost of $100.
If a framework update is required, it’s best to perform a site and database backup first, in case something breaks.
That doesn’t take much longer (unless something breaks)

If your website is built using Shopify, Squarespace or Wix, you won’t need to perform any software maintenance, as those companies maintain their own software.

Hope this helps.
