I currently work for probably the largest supplier by volume in raw building materials in Sydney.

Anything imported must meet strict building standards or meet the requirements so that might be out of the question, though that doesn’t stop you from doing tools.

Almost everyone buys from Ox Tools (that blue brand might see everywhere).

Good luck with the venture, the tool avenue seems to work very well, take a look at Sydney Tools, Total Tools and few of the other guys.
