I have just completed some work in Singapore and my customer has withheld 15% of my invoice. They sent me the documents from the Singapore inland revenue explaining the local law for non residents working in Singapore.

My question: If I get the tax receipts from the Customer, that I have paid this 15%, am I able to claim back from the Australian tax ?

    Hi Phil,

I don’t have any professional advice on the matter but wanted to say you’ve enlightened me a little.

I am currently working from Australia with a Singapore-based business so this was interesting to know. I wasn’t aware this was controlled.

To get my head around things I did a bit of resarch:

    Hi Phil

James is correct, you list the income in foreign income section of your Aus tax return and claim the foreign tax credits.

    Regards
    Evan
