    Hello everyone,

I am planning to export wines and other Australia made products from Australia into China market, and also import products from China into Australia market.
    The question is,
    1. Do I have to apply import and export licenses? and How?
    2. Could you guys give me some ideas about Australia Made products which are famous and suitable for exporting to China?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Microfly,

The Austrade website has some information about doing business with China from Australia, which you can see here. – their site also has information about grants/assistance that may be available.

Also check out the customs website here, which will give you some further information about importing/exporting.

If you intend on applying your own brands to the products you will be exporting, you may also wish to make sure that you have secured trademark registration in China (or at least are not in breach of anyone else’s rights). China’s trademark laws are basically that the first person to file a trademark application is the owner of the trademark – so, you will need to make sure your rights are protected and that someone in China doesn’t see your new brand and ‘beat you’ to the filing of an application.

Hope the above links help and am sure others will be along soon with their comments too :)

    Hi Microfly,

Not sure if you have come across this but there’s a page where questions are asked about import and export processing and answers are been given, you can find them over here. There are also other pages where it talks about trademark and IP in China.

If you are looking for some information or guide about sourcing, then you can also find it here.

Hope the info given above is helpful to you :)

    Regards,
    Matt
