Now that places like Aliexpress and Ebay are gathering GST on small imports and submitting the GST directly to the tax office, how do I put that on my BAS? There is no place on these sites to add a ABN to ensure my purchases are recorded under my business name so I guess the ATO would not know they came from my purchases.

I am not sure how to claim these payments against the GST that I collect in sales.

No worries, I think I have worked it out – not too hard. I feel foolish.

Hey Rowan, I myself have done alot of aliexpress sales to Australians. How do you claim these payments against the GST on sales made?

    Hi joeyhoy,

Make sure you keep the original invoices reflecting the GST charge and if you are running an accounting software program, include the GST in the cost of purchasing.

Then submit your BAS in the normal way.

    Cheers
    Paul
